Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is just as important as taking care of your skin. Lately, I’ve been into using toners and essences, ensuring I finish with a moisturizer. And most importantly, I always apply sunscreen in the morning.
AM Routine:
- Foam Cleanser: Start your day by cleansing your face to remove dirt and oil. Choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type.
- Toning: Apply a toner to balance your skin’s pH and prepare it for the next steps in your routine. Toners can also help minimise the appearance of pores.
- Essence: Apply essence for added moisture after toner. An essence toner is a versatile product that plays a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of your skincare routine, promoting a healthy, radiant complexion.
- Eye Cream: To help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Vitamin C Serum: To help brighten the complexion and reduce the appearance of dark spots or hyperpigmentation, leading to a more even skin tone.
- Moisturising: Use a moisturiser to hydrate and protect your skin. Choose one based on your skin type – lightweight for oily skin and richer for dry skin.
- Sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every morning to protect your skin from UV rays.
PM Routine:
- Oil Cleanser: End your day by cleansing your face to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Choose a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type.
- Foam Cleanser: To provide a deeper cleanse by creating a lather that helps lift and remove dirt, oil, and impurities from the skin’s surface.
- Toning: Apply a toner to balance your skin’s pH and prepare it for the next steps in your routine. Toners can also help minimise the appearance of pores. For PM routine, I would use few layers of toning especially during colder months to soothe dryer skin.
- Serum: Apply a serum with active ingredients like vitamin A or Retinol to help maintain skin integrity and promotes cell turnover.
- Moisturizing: Use a moisturizer to hydrate and protect your skin. Choose one based on your skin type – lightweight for oily skin and richer for dry skin.
- Exfoliation: Exfoliate 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells and improve skin texture. Be gentle, especially if you have sensitive skin, i.e. 25% AHA + 2% BHA exfoliating peeling solution.
- Masking: Use a face mask weekly to address specific skin concerns, like hydration or acne.
If you are new to skin care, please do not feel overwhelmed. You can start with the essentials for your morning routine: a cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen. From there, you can gradually add more steps according to your skin type. If you are ready to incorporate Vitamin C in your routine, make sure to apply sunscreen, as Vitamin C can make your skin more vulnerable to damage.
For your night routine, begin with a cleanser, toner, and moisturiser. The key is to keep your skin hydrated. When you are ready to add serum, be sure to do a patch test before applying it to your entire face.
